CHALLENGE
A major higher education institution had removed an outdated storage appliance from their production environment in response to a cyber attack. After the cyber attack was addressed, their storage array could not service data or be integrated back into their hosting environment.
REQUIREMENT
Customer requested emergency services to restore fiber-channel data connections, configure fibre channel network fabric services, re-establish management connectivity and re deploy the virtualized management component for the storage array in order to retrieve mission critical data.
SOLUTION
By leveraging relationships with badged Dell staff, our team was able to locate and retrieve archived storage array code upgrades and the virtual machine deployment template to establish management services with the storage array. Additionally, our team guided the on site staff through establishing redundant fabric connectivity to their Cisco MDS fabric and validating the alias and zoning configurations for the connections. Within the storage array management interface, our team guided the on site staff through registering host initiators and presented LUN's for their virtual infrastructure, ultimately restoring their old data.
RESULTS
A legacy storage array was re-deployed with current code and connected in a fault tolerant manner to the customers virtual infrastructure without any licensing or software costs in less than 24.
